The Extended Version:

It's a constant journey, but here's a little bit about me.

I grew up in the tiny town of Truckee, California- graduating high school with many of the same kids who I started kindergarten with. I am always thankful to have grown up in such a close knit community.

Professionally, I have a background in creative writing, music, and marketing. I graduated from from Sacramento State in 2011. I've taught kids piano lessons, done numerous publishing internships, worked in and hated corporate America, and a done a handful of other odds and ends.

I met my husband at 19 and we married when I was 22 (him 27). Some say we married young, but I say because of that we've gotten to grow together. We've seen each other through multiple careers and he was there through nearly my entire 5 years of college, and I was there as he trained to work for Amtrak.

We welcomed our first daughter, Clare, in 2014. My pregnancy and birth of her is what led me to pursue childbirth education, start the postpartum podcast and dive headfirst into this field of helping and supporting new moms.  You can read her birth story here.

In 2013 when I went off the birth control pill, my hormones went nuts and I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder.  I have a fantastic psychiatrist who is always helping me manage it and thrive despite it's drawbacks.

Other passions include exercise ( I used to teach Zumba, so dancing is fun! I want to make more time for that and softball again). I'm a self-proclaimed coffee snob, avid reader, lover of broadway musicals, and the occasional good TV show or movie.

In 2018, I delivered our second daughter, Charlotte, at home in a tub with the support of the Birthstream Midwifery Midwives. You can read her birth story here.

I am what most would call "semi-crunchy" in the world of mamas. I am very pro-breastfeeding, co-sleeping, baby wearing, attachment parenting, natural birth, etc. But all that being said, I think moms should be supported in whatever way they choose to birth and parent. And they should be able to do so by making informed choices. Not based on other's agendas. Only you know your family and your baby.

I also love animals and am mom currently to two fur-babies, kitties Bert and Bunny.

Thanks for Stopping By!
